Meleah and Katherine are thrilled and honored to share that we have been nominated to take part in the 2024 Student Visionaries of the Year campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Our 7-week journey begins on January 18, 2024, and concludes on March 9, 2024, with a shared goal of funding vital research, treatments, and providing invaluable support for patients and their families battling blood cancers.

LLS has made remarkable strides in the treatment of blood cancers. Founded in 1949, they are the world's largest nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since 2017 LLS has been instrumental in establishing 70% of all blood cancer treatments. This brings us closer than ever to finding a cure for blood cancer. Moreover, the organization supports affordable care and improving public health care.

We are both passionate about the mission of LLS because cancer has affected the lives of those near and dear to us. Both of us have family members that have dealt with different kinds of cancer. It reinforced the importance of a strong support system and the significance of supporting research for treatments. We've always been passionate about helping others, and this campaign is our opportunity to offer hope and a chance for patients to be part of the increasing survival rates.

Our main focus is advocacy - we hope that with our efforts, we can make an impact in the fight for equity in healthcare. The name of our team is Hearts for a Cure, incorporating our passion and love for this campaign with our hope to make a difference for blood cancer patients.

Our journey as Students of the Year concludes with the Grand Finale Gala on March 9, 2024. We're absolutely thrilled to be contributing to an organization that works tirelessly to save lives daily and discover cures. But, we can't do it without your help!
